Cowboys vs. 49ers live updates: Dak’s pick gives San Fran early lead

The NFL divisional round continues Sunday on FOX, as the NFC’s fifth-seed Dallas Cowboys face the second-seed San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in sunny Santa Clara, California.

The winner will go on to face the Philadelphia Eagles next weekend for a spot in Super Bowl LVII in Arizona.

Earlier, the third-seed Cincinnati Bengals took down the second-seed Buffalo Bills by double digits to advance to the AFC title game, where they will face the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. ET).

Here are the top plays!

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers

Setting the stage

The Niners defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card round to advance to Sunday’s tilt, while the Cowboys secured a double-digit wild-card victory of their own over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make it to the divisional round.

Heating up

During on-field warmups, things got a little tense between these two teams ahead of kickoff. Apparently, the Niners didn’t like Cowboys kicker Brett Maher, who struggled mightily last week, warming up on their side of field, so they intervened.

Kittle on the loose!

George Kittle helped the 49ers get into Cowboys territory on their second possession, hauling in a 30-yard grab to get San Francisco going.

Dak wants this one back

Dak Prescott made the game’s first big mistake a little more than halfway through the first quarter. On third-and-9, he seemed to not be on the right page with Michael Gallup as his pass went straight to Deommodore Lenior, giving the 49ers the ball at the Cowboys’ 21-yard line.

Third-and-Purdy

Purdy took a sack on the 49ers’ first play following the interception but he made up for it two plays later. The rookie found Brandon Aiyuk right at the sticks to get the first down on third-and-15. San Francisco had to settle for three though as it wasn’t able to create the same magic again on the ensuing three plays, giving the 49ers a 3-0 lead late in the first quarter.
