VW reports higher US sales in 2021 despite semiconductor shortage

Volkswagen reported a significant increase in sales in the US last year, despite the enduring shortage of semiconductors and a disappointing last quarter, according to a statement released on Friday. Sales were higher thanks to the popularity of sport utility vehicle models such as the Atlas and Tiguan, enabling VW to sell a total of 375,030 vehicles in the US, up 15 per cent on a year earlier, the statement read.
