One of the stars of that team has reportedly passed away this week, as USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale and MLB insider Hector Gomez have reported that pitcher Willie Hernandez has died at the age of 69. Hernandez had the best season of his Major League career in 1984, becoming one of the only relief pitchers to win the Cy Young and the MVP awards in the same season.
